Protest outside the Bellevue home of a large donor to Yes On Prop 8
Family Home Evening - Monday November 17, 6-8pm
On the public sidewalk in front of 9807 NE 4th Street in Bellevue

In the wake of Prop 8's passage, which has taken marriage rights away from gays and lesbians in California, there has been national outcry against the role of the Mormon church in pushing the legislation, (in possible violation of their limits as a nonprofit). We must not forget that some Mormon bigots are more responsible than others.

Area Mormon Donald Pugh of Bellevue recently donated $50,000 to the Yes on Prop 8 campaign. His church called upon their members to take marriage equality away from Californians, and like many other Mormon bigots trying to interfere in the lives of others, Donald Pugh stepped in with a huge last minute contribution a week before the election.

The demonstration outside Donald Pugh's home will take place on Monday, November 17th, from 6-8pm, in honor of "Family Home Evening", a day of the week on which Mormons are told to stay at home and bond with their families over their faith and values. In the spirit of the growing anti-Mormon backlash, join others this Monday by taking part in a very special Family Home Evening of sharing opinions and talking about faith. Since it will be dark, don't forget your headlamps and other means of portable personal lighting to illuminate your own signs.

(Another area Mormon, Mike Murray, who lives at 20210 NE 85th St in Redmond, donated $100,000 to taking civil rights away from Californians. But, his luxury palace is located in the middle of nowhere, and it would be a shame to spend so much time and fuel going that far when another notable homophobe lives so close to civilization.)

Even though a protest outside the home of a single Mormon bigot will not overturn Prop 8, it is important to spotlight and shame the perpetuators of hatred amongst us. Donald Pugh exercised his right as an American to be a part of a religious campaign of intolerance, but it's also your right to vocalize your opinions about his actions. Even if he's not home that evening, the message is still clear: 'phobes like Donald Pugh made it personal and launched a well-funded religious attack on equality, and people like him can and will be publicly shamed for such blatant asshattery.

Join with others this coming Family Home Evening in a First Amendment-protected non-violent public get-together of shame-calling and laying blame squarely at the feet of one of those responsible. If you're not in the Seattle/Bellevue area, you could look up Prop 8 donors in your city and enjoy your very own Family Home Evenings with special Mormons.
